This is the time of year that many turtles are on the move. Between the rains that we have had and the females that are traveling to lay their eggs, we are getting many calls. If the turtle is NOT injured, please leave it alone. If it needs help crossing the road, temporarily stop traffic and let the turtle cross. If there is a turtle in someone’s yard, it is either moving through or laying eggs. Let the female complete her task and she will be on the move again. Sometimes we get turtles that have been hit by cars. It takes a long time for a turtle shell to heal. We give them the chance to get better and then release them as far away from a road as possible!
